Persian Carpet Salesmen — Khorasan Iran Fine Art Print
My father is from Nishabur, Iran. And when I painted this, I thought of him.
I thought of the world he grew up in — the heat of a Khorasan afternoon, the unhurried rhythm of life, the way men would find shade and simply rest. No rushing. No noise. Just the slow, comfortable passing of a hot midday.
My father is from Neyshabur, Iran. And when I painted this, I thought of him.
I thought of the world he grew up in — the heat of a Khorasan afternoon, the unhurried rhythm of life, the way men would find shade and simply rest. No rushing. No noise. Just the slow, comfortable passing of a hot midday.
These carpet salesmen aren't doing much. One is smoking. The others are probably waiting on tea. The carpets — those extraordinary Persian carpets that carry centuries of craft and culture — are simply there, part of the backdrop of an ordinary day. Nobody is performing. Nobody is posing. This is just life, exactly as it was.
That quiet ordinariness is what I wanted to capture. Because ordinary moments, when you look at them closely enough, are anything but ordinary. They are the fabric of a culture. The memory of a place. The world my father knew as a boy.
This painting is for everyone who carries a homeland in their heart — whether they have ever set foot there or not.
